Army recruitment rally in Salem from Aug. 22


Indian Army will conduct a recruitment rally for candidates of 11 western and southern districts at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium here from August 22 to September 2.

The camp is being organised to enrol candidates into the Army from the 11 districts that fell under the Army Recruitment Office, Coimbatore – The Nilgris; Erode; Krishnagiri; Dharmapuri; Salem; Namakkal; Dindigul; Madurai; Theni; Tirupur and Coimbatore, said Rohini R. Bhajibhakare, District Collector, here on Monday.

She told presspersons that the rally would be for the selection of candidates for different categories such as soldier (general duty), soldier (tradesman), soldier (technical), soldier (technical aviation and ammunition examiner), soldier (nursing assistant) and soldier (clerk cum store keeper technical).

Ms. Rohini said that the candidates should apply only online on from July 8 to August 6. Admit cards would be issued online after August 10.

The date of reporting at the rally venue would be intimated on admit card and the applicant can take printout of the admit card from the website.

The candidates could clarify all their recruitment related queries from the online mobile application ‘Army Calling” and Army Recruiting Office (ARO) Coimbatore (0422 2222022).

The application provided live chat facility in Tamil for the aspiring candidates and could be downloaded from Google Play Store.

Colonel R. J. Rane, Director, Recruiting, Coimbatore, said that an army recruitment was conducted in Salem in 2006, when about 50,000 candidates participated. This time, about one lakh candidates were expected to take part in the rally.

Ms. Rohini said that to facilitate the smooth holding of the rally, the district administration had taken various steps. Meetings of the officials of the line departments had already been conducted. Special initiatives would be taken for the security, basic amenities, sanitation and lighting on the rally days.

The army officials too were in regular touch with the department in connection with the arrangements for the rally, the Collector said.

On the occasion, Ms. Rohini released a brochure containing the details of the rally and Col. Rane received it.
