Alumnus lauds alma mater

It was a day of double delight for the institute as well as a few of its alumni as they came together to join their celebrations. The alumni of the 1967 batch of PSG College of Technology chose to celebrate the 45 year of their course completion on the day the college concluded its Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

And, it was by no means a small achievement that a person from that very same batch was the chief guest of the day. S. Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL, and a Padma Bhushan awardee, addressed a large gathering of people who were connected to the college in some capacity or the other. His batch mates were among the audience. He recalled many fond instances that happened during the time they spent on the campus.

Talking about the PSG impact on his life and career, Mr. Nadar said the spark began in PSG. “We were born in a country which was looking for freedom. There was poverty in the country, but it was accompanied by optimism. During our study period, there were many upheavals going on in the country and the State. It was a trying phase that helped us mould us into courageous individuals,” he said.

L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons’ Charities, said the events that were held to mark the one-year long celebrations of the Diamond Jubilee of the college stood testimony to its quality in education and research.

R. Rudramoorthy, Principal of the college, said 60 years of glorious achievements in a sustained manner was no small an achievement.

“The college has achieved this by focussing on proper curriculum planning and development, industry-institute collaboration, incubating entrepreneurs, career advancement and development of the faculty, and establishing a sound alumni base,” he said.
