Alternative documents as ID proof for voting

The Tiruppur District Collectorate has released a list of documents that could used by a voter if he does not have Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

In a press release issued by District Collector and Election Officer K.S. Palanisamy,

the following alternative photo identity documents can be produced: Passport, driving licence, service identity cards (with photograph) issued by the employees by the public service undertakings or public limited companies of the central and the state government, passbooks (with photograph) issued by bank or post office and Permanent Account Number (PAN) card.

Other alternative identity cards are: Smart card issued by the Registrar General of India under the National Population Register exercise, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) job card, health insurance smart card issued under the Ministry of Labour, Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and Aadhaar card.
