The Coimbatore district administration will soon declare that all houses in 52 panchayats in the district have toilets, said Collector Archana Patnaik at the Gandhi Jayanthi Gram Sabha held at Puliampatty Panchayat in Pollachi North Panchayat Union on Friday.

It was not enough if the occupants of the households construct toilets. They should maintain the toilets so that the hygiene and environment were not spoilt. They should also ensure that mosquito breeding sources were destroyed to prevent spread of dengue.

At the gram sabha she discussed with the panchayat president and residents the works to be taken up under the 14{+t}{+h}Finance Commission funds, intermediate audit of works under progress, water supply, mosquito control measures, cutting of thorny shrubs, borewell digging and execution of works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Generation Programme.

Sub-Collector, Pollachi, Rashmi Sidharth Zagade, Union Chairperson Selvi Padmini and others were present.
