AITUC plea

The Tamil Nadu unit of the AITUC has said that Union Government should provide adequate funds for the running of ESI medical colleges coming up in the State.

According to T.M. Murthy, general secretary of AITUC Tamil Nadu unit, there are reports that the Union Government planned to hand over the two ESI medical colleges coming up in Chennai and Coimbatore to the State Government. These colleges were attached to ESI hospitals that benefited several workers. The hospitals should not be detached from the ESI scheme, he said.
