Following the arrest of a couple that duped hundreds of people by running a travel agency, aggrieved customers have demanded the arrest of the couple’s son here on Monday.

Submitting a petition to District Collector K. Rajamani during weekly grievances redress meeting, a group of aggrieved persons claimed that the Dhanavarsa Tour Travels cheated nearly 800 people to the tune of nearly ₹ 30 crore. Police arrested travel agency owners Sureshkumar (49) and his wife Maheswari (43) in October. However, the petitioners demanded the arrest of their son, who was allegedly absconding. In addition, they requested Mr. Rajamani to recover their money from the accused.

When contacted, City Crime Branch police said no case was registered against the couple’s son and the cash recovery was yet to be done. Sureshkumar and Maheswari were booked under Sections 120B (Punishment for criminal conspiracy) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code in September, police said.
