A residents association has sought the intervention of the city police against parking of lorries and private buses in residential areas in and around Tatabad causing inconvenience to people living in those localities.

Annai Kasthurba Ladies and Consumer Organisation approached City Police Commissioner K. Periaiah complaining that buses, lorries and private omni buses were parked in residential areas causing various disturbances.

As per the petition filed by the association, heavy vehicles were parked in large numbers on Power House road, Dr. Rajendra Prasad road, Tangedco office road and areas near FCI Godown.

The petition said that about 60 lorries were parked along roads in these residential areas for loading and unloading of goods. Similarly, omni buses were halted in these places for passengers to board. Residents of 10 apartments and several individual houses were affected by these activities.

According to the association, nearly 20 private buses run by a travel operator are halted in the residential areas from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for boarding passengers, disrupting the sleep of residents. Similarly, the buses are halted again between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. for passengers to alight. Push kart vendors, who find large customer base in these places, are disposing food waste and banana leaves on the sides of roads. A senior police officer said that the complaints of the association would be addressed at the earliest.
