Officials conducted surveys in Udhgamandalam on Tuesday and Wednesday to identify unauthorised structures and the report prepared by them will be given to the government for further action, according to an official of the municipality.
Only the buildings constructed from January 1 last year to the end of April this year were studied.
“We want to stop the growth of unauthorised structures in The Nilgiris. Teams were formed to study the buildings,” the official said.
Initially, as many as 26 buildings have been identified.
The buildings surveyed included residential and commercial.
The exact details such as the number of buildings, the violations, deviations, and buildings constructed without approvals would be known in the report.
Though such inspections are routine, the effort now is to curtail growth of such structures, the official said.
