The police removed 66 people from near the Coimbatore Railway Junction when they attempted to block trains seeking special laws to protect inter-caste couples. Under the Samathuva Kazhagam banner, the 66 members, including 29 women, led by district youth wing secretary Silambarasan staged the protest as part of Valentine’s Day. They wanted the State Government to protect inter-caste couples from casteist forces.
