A 48-year-old mentally affected man from Assam travelling by train to Bengaluru a week ago and lost way, was reunited with his family members here on Wednesday.

In the early hours of Tuesday, the railway police saw Labakanta Saika of Nagaon district in Assam stranded at the Coimbatore Junction. The man was found injured. He was taken to to a hospital for treatment. When he recovered, he mentioned the name of his district. “We contacted the police in Nagaon and sent them his picture along with some basic details.

The police informed that Labakanta Saika was found missing on May 26 while travelling with his brother from Assam to Bengaluru, and that his family members had lodged a complaint with them,” said P. Mahendiran of Eera Nenjam Trust. The NGO got in touch with the victim’s brother Arun Chrda Saika (50), a security guard in Bengaluru. Arun reached Coimbatore on Tuesday and took his brother with him on Wednesday. Arun said that Labakanta Saika too was a security guard in Bengaluru.

Since he became mentally ill, he decided to take him back to Assam. Labakanta Saika went missing while on way to Bengaluru for treatment. Overjoyed at finding his brother, Arun sponsored food for all the members at the night shelter on Wednesday.
