Develepment works at Bhavani temple at a cost of Rs. 2 cr

The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment (HR and CE) department is preparing a proposal to carry out various development works at the Bhavani Sangameshwarar temple at a cost of Rs. 2 crore, Collector T. Soundiah has said.

Inspecting the temple premises along with the Joint Commissioner of HR & CE (Coimbatore) P.R. Ashok here on Thursday, the Collector said it was proposed to construct a marriage hall, a Parikara mandapam, public convenience facilities, changing rooms and a cloak room. It was also planned to improve the existing facilities at the temple premises. The officials were preparing detailed estimates for these works currently, he said.

Mr. Soundiah said that the department had also carried out development works to the tune of Rs. 1 crore in the temple premises recently. Rest rooms for the devotees were constructed at a cost of Rs. 68 lakh. A commercial complex with 13 shops were built at a cost of Rs. 20 lakh. Facilities for the production and selling of Prasadham were created at a cost of Rs. 5 lakh. The temple administration had also carried out maintenance works recently.

“The district administration and the HR and CE department are keen on providing necessary amenities to the devotees visiting the temple,” the Collector said.

Mr. Soundiah also said the temple administration was given instructions to ensure regular cleaning. It was planned to rope in the sanitary workers of Bhavani Municipality and volunteers of NSS units to carry out cleaning operations during the weekends and holidays.

The Collector also inspected the Mahudeshwarar temple premises in Kodumudi.

Earlier, he inspected the development works being carried out at different parts of Chennimalai block.
