The CPI(M) activists block road at Gandhipuram in Coimbatore on Tuesday

The CPI(M) on Tuesday blocked roads at nine places in the district in protest against various policies of the Union, and the State Governments. The police arrested 388 members.

CPI(M) leaders said that the mass protest was organised to condemn raise in the price of LPG, and cash crunch in banks and ATMs.

They wanted immediate intervention of the Centre to help Tamil Nadu tide over severe water shortage, and formation of Cauvery Water Management Board.

The agitation was held at Gandhipuram, Narasimmanaickenpalayam, Sundarapuram, Saravanampatty, Pollachi, Anamalai, Annur, and Alanthurai.

Those arrested were released on bail later in the evening.
