The 51-year-old kumki Kaleem, brought from the Kozhikamudhi elephant camp near Topslip, played a significant role in the tranquilisation and trapping of the wild elephant. Kaleem was patient with the trapped tusker to start with. However, when it showed some resistance, Kaleem gave a few hard pushes before lifting the sub-adult from behind and pushing it into the truck. Many onlookers and police personnel took selfies by standing close to Kaleem. Its handler P. Chelladurai (29), said this was the 48{+t}{+h}successful ‘elephant capturing’ operation for Kaleem.
