The ailing superstar of the Tamil film world, Rajinikanth, was believed to be in good condition at a hospital here on Monday, sources said late in the day.

There was, however, no precise word on the state of his health, because of the meticulous policy of patient's privacy being followed in this case. Mr. Rajinikanth, who arrived here from Chennai on Saturday morning, was taken to hospital from the airport. First admitted to an intensive care unit, he was later said to have been shifted to a ward, with his privacy assured.

There is considerable interest here in his well-being, especially among the Singapore Indian community.
