Days after the miraculous escape of the Rockfort Express in Tamil Nadu, an accident was averted on the track between Bardhaman Junction and Gangpur station in West Bengal on Tuesday.

The Howrah-bound Amritsar Mail was to pass on the main line where a fracture was detected by a key-man who alerted the authorities immediately.

According to a press release from Eastern Railway, the key-man on patrol duty noticed around 10 a.m. that the welding joint on the down main line was damaged.

Train services on the main line were suspended for two hours until the joint was repaired. Trains continued to ply on the three other lines of the stretch.
