It can be a trap by Maoists, say police

July 02, 2010 01:39 am | Updated November 28, 2021 09:21 pm IST - RAIPUR:

Suspecting it to be a trap laid by Maoists, the police have initiated a probe into the authenticity of information that the Naxalites have killed three villagers and thrown their bodies on road in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh.

The police have received information about the killing of three villagers by the rebels at Hitulwad, 3 km from the CRPF camp at Ekda.

“We are, however, verifying the authenticity of the information, since the area from where the killings have been reported is Naxal-infested, and it can be a trap by Maoists,” a police officer said here.

So far, no one filed any complaint, he said.
