Israel has deported an American journalist who worked for a Palestinian news agency.

Israel’s Interior Ministry said on Wednesday that a court rejected Jared Malsin’s appeal and boarded him on a flight to New York.

Mr. Malsin was detained at Israel’s international airport last week after arriving on a flight from Prague. He was accused of lying about his reasons for wanting to enter Israel and repeatedly overstaying his visa on past visits.

Interior Ministry Spokeswoman Sabine Hadad said Mr. Malsin raised security suspicions during an initial investigation upon his arrival.

Malsin worked as the English-language editor of the Maan news agency in the West Bank. The agency says he is being punished for his anti-Israel reporting.
