Cabinet nod for Wage Boards may be delayed further

April 15, 2011 11:41 pm | Updated 11:41 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

The Cabinet nod for the reports submitted by the Wage Boards for the working journalists and other employees of the newspapers/news agencies, which has already missed its March 31, 2011 deadline, is likely to get delayed further with the Union Law and Justice Ministry raising queries on the sustainability in the legal forum as the newspaper managements claimed that the “reports were prepared in breach of several rules and time-tested procedures.”

Even the three representatives of the managements each in the Wage Boards for the journalists and other employees refused to sign the final report that was submitted to the government on December 31 last year.

The queries had been answered and the file sent back to the Law Ministry, informed sources said adding that “we hope our clarification will satisfy them.”
