In a prized catch, the Karnataka police has arrested an accused in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blast case from Badiyadukka near here, police sources here said.

Ibrahim Moulavi (55), a native of Vellamunda in Wayanad district was picked up from Ariyapadi Gunaje Masjid at Bandadukka around 10.00 p.m. on Friday night by the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Karnataka Police.

Ibrahim Moulavi, disguised as Mohammed Moulavi, was said to have been serving in the masjid for the last two years as “Mukhri”.

The ATS personnel whisked the man away to Bangalore swiftly after he was nabbed from the spot, they said.

The Police here, however, could not confirm whether the arrested person was an operative of the Lashker-e-Taiba ( LeT ) outfit or a close acquaintance of T. Nazir, who confessed to have masterminded various terror related cases in Kerala, including a well-moduled recruitment drive of Muslim youths in the State into the Kashmir-based militant brigand to carry out subversive activities.
