AIADMK to continue stir on price rise issue

The All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) will continue its protests in both Houses of Parliament, with the non-BJP and non-Congress allies till the UPA government allows discussion on the escalating prices of essential commodities and petroleum products.

AIADMK Parliamentary Party leader M. Thambidurai said the common man was worst-hit by the skyrocketing prices of various food items and petrol, diesel, LPG and kerosene. The party, which jointly organised struggles with the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Left parties in Tamil Nadu, would continue its agitation in Parliament too, he said.

Motion on illegal mining

The former Prime Minister and Lok Sabha member, H.D. Deve Gowda, has given notice for a call-attention motion on illegal mining in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, loot of natural resources, huge loss to the exchequer and general law and order situation in Bellary district of Karnataka.

Mr. Gowda had a meeting with leaders of the Left parties, the TDP and the AIADMK on the issue, and they promised to support the JD (S) for taking up the issue in Lok Sabha, sources said.
