On Wednesday, The Hindu gave 12-year-old Kaajal Dubey a reason to smile.
Kaajal became the proud recipient of a new Tata Indica Vista, which she won as the grand prize of The Hindu -Hirco Top 5 contest held in the third season of the Indian Premier League. She is a Class VIII student of a local school.
The car keys were handed over to her by Pawan Bhatnagar, assistant vice-president, TheHindu , along with Avdhesh Singh Bhadoria, branch manager, Bhopal, The Hindu . Ambrish Sharma, senior manager, Tata Motors, were present.
The contest, which began on March 10, gave cricket fans an opportunity to predict the top 5 batsmen and top 5 bowlers of the tournament complete a slogan and win prizes ranging from overseas vacations and digital cameras. The grand prize was an Indica Vista.
The contest received 11,702 entries online and 2,000 by post. The winners were chosen on the basis of entries that obtained the highest aggregate points at the end of the tournament.
The Hindu gave away more than 800 prizes worth over Rs. 27 lakh. The car will be registered in the name of her father Ajay Dubey, as she is a minor.
