When was the last time you decided to let go of that kurta you outgrew? Or that top that is one size too big, you hoped to get exchanged and forgot all about? Zero-waste company Everwards India and Two’s Company bring an opportunity to add life to clothes that you once loved by selling them to someone else who will find them useful. “We have been collecting pre-loved clothes that are in good condition for the past 10 days,” says Veena Balakrishnan, the co-founder of the initiatives, adding that they will be on sale at their upcoming second edition of Experience Zero Waste Living.

“We have got clothes from some popular labels as donations, which we will sell for one-tenth of their original price,” she says, adding, “With Deepavali coming, a lot of people have the habit of buying new clothes, and in some cultures, there exists the practice of shedding old ones.” Everwards hopes to encourage festive shoppers to buy apparels second-hand. “The concept of buying pre-loved clothes is quite new for many of us and we want people to give the idea a try,” says Veena, adding that they also want people to learn the “art of letting go” by giving away their outfits.

There are personal care products, bags, utility products, straws, balms, plantable pencils, yoga bags, and cutlery among the products on sale at the zero-waste experience. “All of them have been upcycled, curated mindfully, and manufactured by people doing good work but are striving for the right exposure,” explains Veena.

Among the new additions this year is a zero-waste travel kit. “It has drawstring bags, two straws made of steel and bamboo, a wooden toothbrush, napkins and a soap shaving that will get over with just a few washes so that you don’t end up carrying the whole soap during your travel,” she adds. City-based artist Ramya Balaji who goes by the artist name Rbtrary, will be present customising packages. “She will customise your paper bag with her art work, writing something personal for you,” says Veena.

Experience Zero Waste Living is on at Sait Colony House 15/7, Egmore, on October 12 and 13.
