Kondakarla Ava

Located at a distance of 60 kilometres from the city, this is a peaceful paradise. One of the largest freshwater lakes in the country, Kondakarla Ava is spread over 1,400 acres and more than 100 species of birds, including several migratory ones from Siberia that arrive during the winter months, call it home. It is a good idea to head to this lake armed with your camera on a Sunday morning and enjoy a boat ride too. The boat is nothing more than two logs and a plank, fashioned by the local inhabitants. If you want to try something less adventurous, then there are canoes made from hollowed palm tree logs that take you sailing.

How to reach: Drive down the National Highway 16 towards Anakapalle and take a diversion to the left towards Vadrapalli village. A 15-minute drive ahead will get you to your destination.
