Drake and Shiggy would not, even in their wildest dreams, have thought of anything like this. Theshiggyshow that spawned the #Kikichallenge sure must be challenging his ideas after watching #kikichallenge #myvillageshow.

Anil and Tirupathi who slayed the kikichallenge with their bullocks in the paddy field, are now world famous. A basic music speaker, a GoPro Hero 5, a set of bullocks attached to a plough and a paddy-field was how Srikant Sriram, Anil Geela and Pilli Tirupathi decided to take up the Kiki Challenge in Lambadipally, a village in Jagtial district of Telangana. They got it right in the fourth take.

“By the time I came to know of the #KikiChallenge through social media, a safety warning by police was already issued against it. So, we wanted to take up the challenge, respect the warning issued by the Telangana Police commissioner and still go viral. But I wasn’t expecting a call from an International news channel BBC News,” says an elated Srikant. To top it off, comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah has posted the video on his instagram page declaring them the winners of #KikiChallenge.

Sriram is a video developer and runs his own YouTube channel called ‘My Village Show’ which has over 5 lakh subscribers. An M.Tech graduate, Srikanth chose to make videos and documentaries because he wanted people to know more about their village life.

Interestingly all it took Tirupathi, a farmer, to match kikichallenge steps was watching videos of #KikiChallenge on Instagram. Once they posted their own , the men became superstars of social media and everyone who watched it couldn’t help appreciate the idea and the way they modified the challenge.“My YouTube channel, ‘My village show’ is all about the life of rural people. It gives an insight into our day-to-day dealings. We have consciously stayed away from rantings as people want to see positive things of life. With a little humour every issue can be addressed and presented in a better way,” explains Srikanth.

The show which is six years old, has its own stars and a dedicated team of seven, including writers and technicians, somewhat small to generate content for news channels and documentary shows. “It is good to be busy doing things we like. We are a like-minded team so sharing work makes our task easier,” says Srikanth. The leading star of their channel however is the 60-year-old Gangavva who is a farmer. “Gangavva used to toil in the fields. Now we don’t let her do that. She is our leading lady and the most loved actor by our subscribers,” adds Srikanth.

Did Srikant think of ‘best traction time’ while uploading the video? “No, we didn’t have the time to think a suitable time to post the video. I had a hunch it would go viral but this popularity is a shocker. The credit goes to Anil and Tirupathi for letting themselves go with the flow, enjoy the peppy number and make people happy,” Srikanth adds.
