Papaya in your soap

Mayura Kapoor’s So’ganic products are popular with consumers who don’t consider buying organic products as splurging. At events like GoodSeeds Bazaar where she regularly puts up her stall, So’ganic products like soaps, body creams and scrubs are always sold out, claims Mayura whose natural cosmetic and soap brand is almost a year old.

The entrepreneur’s interest in natural products peaked when she witnessed the process of making natural soaps during a holiday. “I had a first-hand experience and exposure to organic bath and body products in Switzerland. It was very interesting to watch the soaps being cut into various shapes and sold by weight. I came back to Hyderabad and started reading about natural beauty products. I honed my skills and knowledge by attending trainings sessions. My family and a couple of close friends played an important role in helping me to put the right foot forward while launching the brand.” she recalls.

So’ganic is ‘so organic’ put together.

The brand is designed to provide natural handcrafted bath and body products such as bath soaps, scrubs, shampoos, oils, lipsticks etc. “Our raison d’être is to provide organic and chemical-free daily use products containing an array of wood pressed oils like coconut oil, Moroccan argan oil, sweet almond oil etc and essential oils like calendula, geranium, lavender, sandalwood etc. These are all aesthetically handcrafted and packed with care,” says Mayura.

She says her soaps are made using ingredients like papaya, beetroot, neem and aloe vera. Other ingredients that go into her products include goat milk, saffron and orange peel.

Discussing skin care with natural products, Mayura says, “Our grandparents used what was available for their skin care routine. Now, we might not have those farms in our backyard, but the ingredients are definitely available. When buying beauty products, look for ingredients like turmeric, honey, almond oil etc. The moment we get used to the goodness of natural ingredients you wouldn't want to go back to chemical-laden products.”

Prices range from ₹200 to ₹400. They also take orders for special occasion hampers which range from ₹250 to ₹2500.

So’ganic displays products at Saptaparni on the first Sunday of every month.
