Amusement parks are increasingly becoming a viable option for family entertainment. Worlds of Wonder, claimed to be the biggest in the category in Delhi-NCR covering a prime area of 147 acres in Noida, is one such example of this largely urban phenomenon. Archana Browne, vice president, sales and marketing, IRPPL (International Recreation of Park Private Limited), which runs Worlds of Wonder (WOW), says the park is adding a whole lot of new features to attract customers.
“The makers of Disneyland designed the structure of WOW. We are going to make a man-made lake soon,” she says. Go Karting will soon be available too.
WOW has already included new attractions like zorb, paintball, disco and rain dance. “It consists of 20 international rides, higher than any other amusement park in Delhi-NCR.”
Browne says, “We are also starting the facilities of night campaign to help visitors coming from distant places.” ‘
Talking about safety measures at the park, she says, “We are focusing a lot on safety. Every year, when authorities come for inspections, we show them fresh certificates. The park is open just for eight hours (1p.m. to 9 p.m) but our ambulance service is available 24 hours.”
She points out that around 11000 cars can be parked at the park at the same time.
About footfall, she says the crowd is better on weekends. “It is about 6,000 to 7,000 on weekends and 2,000 to 2,500 on weekdays. Overall, it is 8,000 to 9,000 a week.”
Archana says there are also plans to build a mall, Garden Galleria. “The mall will have a five-star hotel which will be completed by 2014.” The present upgradation work will be over by November along with the completion of the mall.
