For all those working women who need to seamlessly carry their office outfits to a festive evening out or for those who want their festive look to be more contemporary and subtle, NIMAI’s modern, handcrafted jewellery will now be paired with Nicobar’s latest jewel-tinted festive edit with the NIMAI X NICOBAR collection in Bengaluru.

“We have put together a tight curation of jewellery. It deeply complements Nicobar’s recently launched ‘Autum Bloom’ collection, which explores shades of blue, olive green and cream. And we have worked to bring out gold tone elements,” says Pooja Rosa Yadav, Founder of NIMAI, a curated platform for contemporary jewellery artists, featuring works of over 90 artists from across the country. “We showcase jewellery by several different kinds of designers, who experiment with curious mediums. But for the festive collection, brass is the popular choice because it is attractive and pocket-friendly.”

The collection, which is highly conceptual, according to Pooja, also includes mixed-media jewellery, fabric jewellery, a few pieces of used glass jewellery and jewellery made from discarded watch parts. “Our jewellery is always a conversation starter; despite being minimal, it is interesting,” says Pooja who quit her job as a brand consultant to establish the platform in 2013. “As a brand consultant, I was working on marketing and PR strategies for luxury and premium lifestyle brands. I started feeling that if I could help brands, why couldn’t I set-up my own brand? I then took a break and went to London to study jewellery design”.

NIMAI, which was originally intended to be her own label, transformed into a curated platform for designers when she was doing the research for her line. “I had come back to India and I discovered that there were a lot of designers working on interesting pieces and conceptual designs but they were getting typcast. After being exposed to the creative movement in London, I thought there was a gap in the Indian market which NIMAI, as a platform, could fill.” The platform features collections by designers such as Suhani Pittie, Eina Ahluwalia, Outhouse, Swarovski Confluence, Absynthe Designs, Deepa Gurnani, and Ikroop.

NIMAI X NICOBAR will be showcased on October 6 and 7 at Nicobar, 4 Walton Road , Vital Mallaya Road.
