Uplifting rural locations

CREDAI’s youth wing pledges to spearhead the growth of India’s rural economy

C REDAI, the apex Indian real estate body, has pledged to adopt and uplift over 13 rural locations, with tourism as a viable mechanism for the purpose. The pledge was made at CREDAI Youth Con 2019 in New Delhi recently in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

CREDAI, in its report presented to the Prime Minister, made some recommendations for achieving the objective:

* Access to loans – It is imperative for adequate liquidity support to promote tourism as well as for creation of accommodation facilities for tourists

* Local government support – At the micro level, local government support becomes vital to ensure proper provision and processes to sustain a culture of tourism in the vicinity

* Focus on homestays – Homestay tourism, still at a rather nascent stage, is evolving as one of the most emerging sectors of rural tourism.

* Infrastructure and connectivity – Infrastructure, the key to growth, becomes imperative to enable a satisfactory tourist experience

* Recreation facilities as per tourist profile - Each rural tourism site should try and provide a unique experience and develop recreational facilities as per its topography and expected tourist profile. Needs of tourists such as sport fields, walking and trekking paths, farm experiences will be considered while developing such infrastructure.

* Tapping local advantages – ‘Agritourism’, a concept which can be leveraged by several Indian villages by glorifying agriculture and encouraging local produce and purchase.

CREDAI National President Jaxay Shah said, “ Through this initiative, we are now bound to see development.”

CREDAI National Chairman Getamber Anand said, “This was an opportunity to present a comprehensive plan for the development of our rural economy.” holistic approach.”

CREDAI National Secretary and Youth Wing Chairperson Rohit Raj Modi said, “Our focus on rural tourism will provide another definitive route towards progress of India’s rural economy.”
