Central University of Karnataka (CUK), which has its main campus in Kadaganchi, about 23 km from here, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) which would help the development of curriculum and teaching, establishment of advanced laboratories and conducting faculty development programmes and students’ workshops in the School of Engineering at CUK.

As per the University sources, M. Maheshwaraiah, Vice-Chancellor of CUK, and U.B. Desai, Director of IIT-H, entered into the agreement on May 1 when the former visited the IIT-H campus in Kandi, Telangana. CUK’s top functionaries G. R. Naik, Pro-Vice Chancellor, V. Sandeep, Coordinator of School of Engineering, M.V. Alagwadi, Head Business Studies Department, and M.V. Panduranga Rao, Head of Computer Science & Engineering Department, were also present during the agreement.

The CUK hopes that this MoU would help it in achieving excellence and high-quality standards in its academic programmes of engineering. The pact would allow IIT-H to provide mentorship to School of Engineering in CUK. It will also allow CUK to introduce fractal academics, a popular academic curriculum developed by IIT-H, in its B.Tech engineering programmes from next academic year.
