I n the piece ‘In Search of a Quiet Sunset’, I had asked readers to share details of any havens they had found for themselves to live out their sunset years in.

Many have come forward and shared their finds.

THE HILLY BILLY

Sundar S.V., an ex-army officer, has found his piece of land in the hills in Yelagiri.

He says, “The construction of my place is nearing completion. The area is not commercialised and is accessible from Bangalore and Chennai by road within 3-3.5 hours.”

A VEDIC VILLAGE

Vijayalakshmi Iyer, who has invested in The Vedic Village, Chikballapur District, not too far from Bangalore, says this development fits the description of “an unspoiled, beautiful patch of land with a cool climate”.

The village has plots, villas, and a retirement home with housekeeping, recreational, and medical facilities.

A LAKESIDE PLOT

Geetha Narayanan and her husband have found a piece of land in Kerala - on a hillock overlooking the Vellayani lake, surrounded by hills and covered with coconut palms. She says, “Our friends call it ‘a little piece of paradise’.”

Their house, built by renowned architect Laurie Baker is located 20 minutes from the airport, Kovalam beach, and the city of Thiruvananthapuram. There are plots for sale near the lake.
