There is no doubt that this is going to be an oriental experience. I step into the mouth of the dragon, climb up a steep staircase and am transported to the seating area done up in what can only be described as China Town decor. Only, instead of some Asian music, there is hip hop. One has a choice of both an air conditioned interior or an open air seating area.
The steamed vegetarian momos filled with marinated cabbage and carrot with a dash of sesame oil that I order are good. The chicken thukpa on the other hand could have done with less oil and some dumplings in it.

Amongst the starters I try, my favourite would be the crunchy shrimps served with mayonnaise. they were meaty andeach shrimp was larger than a baby corn! The chicken drumstick was prepared in thick hoisin sauce and had a sweet and salty taste that was enjoyable too. The fried lotus stems, I found overly sweet and here is a note of advice, have them while still hot, as they turn soggy real quick.
The chef Bhaskar Rao says, “The lotus stems found locally aren’t as thick as the ones in the Northern states. We specially order it from Amritsar.”
For the main course, I order nasi goreng, an Indonesian rice dish. It came with an omelette on top. I also got pan-fried chicken on toothpicks. Traditionally in Indonesia, the dish is prepared with mutton, beef, prawns and pork. However, here you have to pick between the vegetarian and the chicken. I was told that they tried to appeal to the local tastes. But for me it reminded me too much of a biriyani.
The portions are generous and the one-by-two rule works well here. The ginger crème brulee with its dense crème topped with crunchy caramel layer was very nice. May be a dash of more ginger would have made it perfect.
