For a tea lover nothing is more welcoming than an inviting quote that reads, ‘Life is like a cup of tea, to be filled to the brim and enjoyed with friends’. Any time is tea time for me and I graze through the tea menu that offers seven varieties of tea and four kinds of Iced tea. I am de-stressing at the newly opened Chaai Spot located near the Asilmetta Bus Stop. I choose the Elaichi Chai and having got the ordering out of the way look around me to see some youngsters hunched over their smartphones busy in a game of PUBG. A few tables away are two men engrossed in cricket all over some tea. I am distracted as my cup of tea is placed in front of me and once I finish that I actually contemplate another cup with its fragrance of cardamoms. Now I am hungry and peruse the menu for snacks where the ice cream dosa catches my fancy.

I order that with another tea, this time a peach passion iced one. Fifteen minutes later, comes a thin dosa with its inner side layered with chocolate syrup. And instead of the chutney is a scoop of vanilla icecream. I am urged to dip the crepe -like dosa into the ice cream and eat it. To be honest, while I enjoyed the chocolate smothered dosa, it felt weird to use the icecream as a substitute for a chutney! “It is one of the most ordered dishes on the menu,” I am told. So I plod on and enjoy it with my third serving of tea. The peach passion iced tea is an absolute winner with a mellow sweetness of peach and the tart passion fruit. My culinary journey concludes with a plate of steamed chicken momos which taste better than they look. They are a must-try .
