• The team from Ghats Honey travelled with tribals on one of their honey gathering expeditions to the Sirumalai forests in the Eastern Ghats. “The honey combs are found on vertical rocks deep in the forest that are extremely difficult to access,” says Stephen. The tribals go as a group, climbing up the rocks with the help of ladders made out of creepers. “Theirs is a perfectly co-ordinated team work, with duties assigned to each person. While one carries smoke torches to distract the bees, the other collects the honey. A single lapse in judgement can be dangerous,” says Stephen.
