• For more information about the hemp movement in India, look to the Indian Industrial Hemp Association , a Delhi-based non-profit national organisation formed in 2011, registered Under the Trust Act 1882.
  • The organisation strives to promote Indian ihemp and ihemp products globally. Last year, when Uttarakhand legalised industrial hemp production, founder of IIHA Rohit Sharma explained to The Hindu , that they would commence cultivation of non-narcotic hemp soon with the initial focus on creating a seed bank, adding, “The cultivation will be taken up in villages in Pauri Garhwal region... about five years ago, when we started working on industrial hemp, we tried to figure out why India is not tapping into this $1-trillion industry unlike advanced economies in Europe, North America and even China. We then realised that though the authorities are interested, they had little idea on how to proceed.”
