Whoever said diamonds are a girl’s best friend hasn’t seen the handcrafted wonders of Zardozi Shoes. If you think the gold and silver thread embroidery created by craftsmen is solely for clothes, think again. At Zardozi Shoes, these gold patterns are created on footwear! Located in Pathergatti area of the bustling markets near Charminar, Zardozi Shoes evokes a royal spirit. Walk inside and the sparkle and shimmer of high-heeled shoes and wedges instantly draw your attention. There are other collections too here but it’s the collection with stones and zari work that impress the most.

The dazzling footwear pairs are all neatly arranged on the racks. Md. Asrar Ahmed of the shop informs their USP is the handmade work done on the shoes. “Women like stone work and zari ka kaam . These are used for parties and special occasion,” he informs. Look closely and you find that they are in sync with the artistic nature. The golden zari string is woven across shoes in a pattern and bright white stones add to its charm. The designs embellish both the front and the arch of the footwear.

The number of days to make this zari footwear depends on the kind of work, reveals the store manager Khalid. “Sometimes it takes five days to one week to make one pair. It is laborious but the end product makes it all worth it,” he smiles. When it comes to choosing styles, he informs that the tastes of women have been kept in mind and designed accordingly. “Machine-made shoes and wedges are quite common. It is the handmade zari work which makes all the difference and brings beauty to the foot,” he points out.

Khalid recalls how the Hyderabadi women always had a choice when it comes to footwear. “Earlier too, women have worn footwear with different designs. Some collections were fancy and some had diamonds and kundan stones on it,” he shares. The price of the collection starts from ₹500 and goes upwards till ₹2000.

Women now refer to this shop as ‘ZS lucky spot’ and love to visit it often. Ethnic and casual footwear and accessories like belts are also available here.
