Lightweight, contemporary and designed for everyday wear — this is how Vummidi Bangaru Jewellers describe their two new handcrafted collections, the Buddha Pod and the Gingko Leaf. Inspired by the parallels in Nature and women, the two ranges of platinum and diamond jewellery, designed by the VBJ Creative Centre, were unveiled recently.
The Gingko Leaf collection had a preview at the Lakme India Fashion Week as part of The Real Cut show. Roni Adhikari, a designer from the in-house Creative Centre, who represented the brand at the event, has been a jewellery designer at the VBJ Creative Centre for over two years.
With the theme of the show being ‘Naturality’, Roni showcased the Gingko Leaf and the Tulips collections. “It is a challenge to work with platinum. It requires tremendous practice and delicate craftsmanship,” said Roni. The intricately fashioned bracelets, necklaces and earrings, were the highlights of the collection.
The VBJ Creative Centre which houses 15 in-house designers, is also where the manufacturing happens and where young craftsmen are trained. Adding to the laurels of VBJ is the recent achievement by craftsman Sanjoy Pramanik who won the Bronze medal at the 45th World Skills Championship. “We at VBJ hope to continue to bring new talent and new design to the world,” said Jithendra Vummidi.
