With the temperatures cooling and new makeup releases all around, it’s easy to point which way the winds are blowing. Between the latest launches and sneak peeks of holiday goodies, the beauty world is taking a much needed turn to bright colours. So this festival season, ditch the more classic looks of reds, bronzes and golds and have fun with a dab of sparkle and pop.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Pro Pigment Palette (₹4,160)
It’s very rare to see a palette full of bright colours that are cohesive and work well together. With most palettes, I find that you use 60 to 70%, but ignore the rest. With this, I find it difficult to find a single colour that cannot be used with other shades or by themselves. Filled to the brim with bright purples and pinks, it’s easily a makeup show stopper. If you consider how much purples can accentuate and flatter tan skin, you will wonder how you settled for browns and golds. With varying textures of mattes, shimmers, and duo chrome eyeshadows, high pigment and longetivity to boot, this palette surpasses the ‘want’ and settles firmly in the ‘need’ category.
IGK House Party Hair + Body Glitter Stick in Disco (₹1,050)
The thick, chunky glitter stick can be used to give both your hair and skin iridescent, dimensional pink glitter, that can be built to a full coverage. My favourite thing about this product is that the stick keeps the glitter in place, and doesn’t allow fall-out, which is usually my pet peeve with such products. The glitter lasts all day, looking fantastic, and doesn’t irritate the skin or scalp. Personally, I love how it looks instead of a maang tika on the centre parting of the hair, or dusted lightly over a fishtail braid. The possibilities of such a product are genuinely endless.
Patrick Ta Major Glow Body Oil in A Moment (₹4,160)
If you’ve been looking for that perfect body oil, search no more. This luxuriously-scented one, with pearlescent bronze shimmer, is packed with ingredients such as Vitamin C & E, squalene and olive oil. It manages to be hydrating without being greasy. I’ve also noticed that once it dries down and sinks into the skin, it doesn’t transfer onto clothes or surfaces the way shimmer body makeup usually does.
Milk Flex Highlighter in Blitzed (₹1,650)
Nobody needs another highlighter. It’s the kind of product that you want to constantly buy but never use up. Season after season, I look at the newly released highlighters, but faithfully return to my Becca Champage Pop and Opal. Until I swatched Milk Makeup’s Blitzed. The brand claims that the product is made with pearls and crushed gemstones, along with hyaluronic acid spheres for hydration. But unlike the usual gold/champagne shades, Blitzed is a rose gold that has a multi-dimensional shimmer that not only highlights, but also catches the light because of the varying sizes of shimmer particles, making it quite a party on your face.
