When we speak of the first 1000 days of nutrition for a child, did you know that the countdown begins from the womb? These days are crucial for the development of not just the brain but also overall.

Paediatrician Dr Ashwath from KMCH will speak on the topic at Incredible Me & Lil Champs, a wellness fest that puts the focus on child development. It is organised by Tiruppur-based Brainiacs, an activity hub for children and The Right Turn that holds events for schools, children, and mothers, in association with Pooja Davda, an event planner from Coimbatore.

Dr Ashwath will talk about nutrition and lifestyle during pregnancy and the first two years of a child’s life to an audience of parents, educators, caregivers and children. “Parents play an important role in encouraging a healthy lifestyle in children. We have planned activities that will tap the child’s potential and energy,” says Sneha Parmanandk of Brainiacs.

Deepa Mohanraj, Psychologist and Founder of Kaumaram Prashanthi, an academy for children with special needs, will highlight how every child is unique and the need to guide them to explore their capabilities without imposing parental expectations. Childhood obesity and right nutrition will be discussed by Dr P Praveen Raj of Gem Hospital, who is also working on the Child Obesity Prevention in School (COPS) programme. Dr Meena Kumari, paediatric endocrinologist, PSG Hospitals, will speak on Nature vs Nurture.

Senthil Kumar, founder of Helikx Open School, will speak on Right Parenting and Guidance and highlight the parents’ role in building a healthy environment for children. Dr Jaya Mahesh, body sculpting therapist, will drive home the message that every family should keep aside an hour every day for a fun-filled fitness activity as a stress buster and not as a tiring regime.

Each session will have an interactive Q&A. There will be activities and games for children besides a health check-up. There will be a glamour fest for children in the afternoon.
