On a Friday morning, as millions of butterflies streaked across the Husainsagar Lake they were met by an armada of young sailors in their Bermuda sloops, who didn't bother with the hubbub of photographers and media personnel milling around an actor.

It was a day meant to promote yachting as a sport and helping create awareness about a cleaner Husainsagar Lake.

Four celebrities were supposed to get into four J24S class yachts and race, steered by ace yachtsmen. But only one of the four celebrities turned up. That helped. The children in their small yachts, using all the tricks learnt over the past few days did themselves proud as they swung around the two buoys and completed the routine.

You cannot help but reconnect with Stuart Little and his adventures in the New York Central Park as the pint-sized Rizwan Shah Rukh received an affectionate pat from Suheim Sheikh of the Yacht Club for completing the round. Some of the youngsters were there to take part in the Monsoon Regatta's Inland Optimist Open Championship which saw about 57 entries from across the country.

“When all these young people and their parents come to this place and see the water quality (surprise, surprise the water quality was excellent with visibility reaching more than three inches!) then they would be aware of the need to save this lake,” said Vivek Naidu of the club.
