Keith Vaz, Labour MP of Indian origin, will host a special dinner at the House of Commons in honour of Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra on Wednesday to celebrate the couple’s wedding.
Chefs at the House of Commons have created a special desert called ‘Shilpa’s Delight’, The MP said.
“I am absolutely thrilled that we are able to celebrate the wedding of Shilpa and Raj in the House of Commons. The wedding ceremony in India was an absolutely beautiful occasion and I am so pleased to be able to bring some of the celebrations to the UK. Both Shilpa and Raj have done so much for charitable causes,” the MP told PTI.
The dinner is likely to be attended by a large number of MPs and leaders from across the political spectrum. Ms. Shetty became a house hold name in Britain for her restrained demeanour in the face of racist provocation on the Celebrity Big Brother show two years ago.
The 34-year-old actor is also one of the International Patrons of Silver Star, the charity organisation founded by Keith Vaz three years ago to highlight diabetes awareness.
The MP said British MPs and ministers, leading members of the Asian community and corporate leaders will be amongst the guests.
