August 29, the 51st birthday of the King of pop, the legend Michael Jackson, was celebrated in a very special way by eminent musicians from across the country in a tribute show “Heal The World” organised by Rotary Club of Chennai Coastal in association with The Exodus, in aid of Autism Awareness & Treatment.

Performances

The crowd started cheering excitedly when Benny Dayal, Haricharan and Naresh Iyer came on stage with Michael’s all time favourite number “JAM”. “Another part Of Me” was presented beautifully by Naresh, Hari and Anu followed by “Human Nature” and “The way You Make Me Feel” by Anu, Suvi, Hari and Sunitha. Kavitha was next on stage with her brilliant performance of “Don’t Stop Till You Get enough”.

After a duet performance and a group rendition of “Beat It”, it was time for Timmy’s powerful rendition of “Dirty Diana”. Then Mili, Natasha and Suvi joined him for “Rock With You” and “Give it to Me”. There was a heartfelt unplugged “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Sanjeev Thomas and Jaishankar. Roshini’s “Smile” was followed by Anu’s “Gone Too Soon” and “I’ll Be There” accompanied by Suvi and Natasha.

After another Naresh-Hari number, it was Andrea Jeremiah’s turn. Her mind-blowing voice was accompanied by Mishko on Bass for the baby Jackson song “Who’s Loving You”. Grammy Award Winner Vikku Vinayakaram’s son Umashankar shared stage with Suresh Peters and Sunitha for the song “They Don’t Really Care About Us”.

On fire

The trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy perfomed Michael Jackson’s “Earth song” where Shankar Mahadevan’s son Sidharth was seen on stage for the first time with his father. A couple of performances later, Anu and Suvi actually set the place on fire again with their performance of the songs “Shake Your Body” and “Black Or White” which was followed by eight-year-old Pratika’s performance. Her rendition of “ABC” from Jackson 5 amazed everyone.

Towards the end, all the musicians along with a group of children led by Anu were called upon the stage to salute the King for his greatness with the sensational number “Heal The World” and “We Are The World”.
