Two workers were killed and three injured in an accident at a cracker unit near here on Saturday afternoon.
The police identified the deceased as V. Gurusamy (48) and S. Muniyasamy (35). The two were filling explosives for making fireworks at the unit in Mettamalai when an explosion took place. The shed in which they were working blew up killing them on the spot.
District Revenue Officer B. Ganesan inspected the accident site.
S. Muniyammal (45), A. Guruvammal (50) and R. Ramesh (35) suffered injuries in the explosion. They were admitted to a private hospital here.
The Sattur Town police are investigating.
