Bitstrips had created a Facebook and mobile application that became instantly popular. The application allowed you to place cartoon avatars of yourself in different situations, and was received extremely well by users and viewers alike. Bitstrips has now come up with Bitmoji, a customisable emoji sharing app for devices running on iOS. This app just extends the principle on which Bitstrips worked – creating an avatar to represent you and then you can use this avatar in various expressive emojis when you are chatting with friends.
Once you download the app, people with existing Bitstrips accounts can login and import their existing avatar and use it. New users will have to create their own avatars by using different hair styles, face shapes, accessories, and a lot more. The avatar is then automatically placed on hundreds of Bitmojis, many of which have props of some kind.
These Bitmojis are divided into categories depending on mood – ranging from happy and sad to fun and affectionate. All your most recently used emojis are displayed in the front and centre in the app so that you can use them again and again easily. It also has a “popular” section.
While you can pull images directly from the app, you can also turn the Bitmoji keyboard on from the settings menu of the keyboard of your device and then access these images as a new keyboard while typing in the messages app. The keyboard comes with a QWERTY text keyboard. This way, you will never have to turn the Bitmoji keyboard off. In order to use Bitmoji as a keyboard, you will have to tap on an image to copy it automatically and then paste it on the message field before sending it off.
You can also tap on a Bitmoji and share it on your Facebook Messenger, Facebook, email, Twitter and what not. You can also save a Bitmoji to your camera roll to be shared on other platforms.
