Striving for a break

Siddu Jonnalagadda.

Actor Siddu Jonnalagadda made his debut with director Praveen Sattaru's Life Before Wedding and now he's almost through with the second film titled Guntur Talkies, with the same director. In between he had done a Tamil film Vallinam and RGV's Ice Cream 2.

Siddu shares, “I have been on a break for a year. We all know struggling and upcoming actors don't really have a choice. We have one or two chances and we need to throw ourselves in the ring. The offers we get are not great so the task is difficult; it is important to do the right film instead of being known for acting in every second film and disappearing forever.”

Siddu’s latest movie Guntur Talkies is a confusion comedy, a commercial entertainer. “I play the hero of the film and Naresh (senior actor) also plays the lead role. I was very excited to work with Mahesh Manjrekar. With this film, I am hoping I will get a much needed break. I have been RGV's fan for a long time and so I met him and told him that I wanted to work with him. It is every actor’s dream to work with him at least once. Post that film, I bagged this project.”

Guntur Talkies is a story based in the slums of Guntur and apparently everyone is stepping one everybody's toes and at one point hell breaks loose. He adds, “I play a guy from a slum in Guntur; I wear shabby clothes, I have no class and the story takes place in the slums. It is retro kind of a film, raw.. The title has a nice ring to it.” He goes on to reveal a quality or two of the character he is playing. "I am very dumb but with some unintended charm because of which women keep falling for me. It is a realistic film and there are bunch of other major characters.”

There are two heroines; Rashmi Gautam, the anchor in Jabardast TV show, and Shraddha Das. Humour is said to be situational The hero adds, “We almost finished half of the shoot; currently we are in Hindupur. The music by Sricharan is new and fresh."
