As I go through the menu at Diner's Summit, Biverah, I am confused. I'm spoilt for choice as everything on the menu sounds good. Should I order a Mixed Grilled Sizzler from the Continental menu or the Polo E Fungi from the Italian side of the menu? Or perhaps I should go for a Malai Kofta with Indian breads or play it safe with a Fish Meal?

All is solved, however, when I hear that the chef's speciality is Chinese. Chinese it is, though I admit I am a little apprehensive. Most restaurants, which offer Chinese, tend to dish out an Udupi version of the cuisine, which I am not too fond off.

Not a big fan of soups, I order a starter instead – chicken spring roll. It comes piping hot. The spring roll is crisp and not dripping with oil. The spring roll's filling has equal portions of chicken and vegetables, which makes it rather filling for the tummy. Thankfully, it is not fried in coconut oil, another of my apprehensions, laid to rest.

I find myself digging generously into the Crispy Fried Vegetable that I order. Although a tad greasy, the batter fried pieces of vegetables with just the right amount of spices is delectable.

The waiter gives me an incredulous look when I order Chicken with Honey and Chilly and Beef in Black Bean Sauce with plain white rice. “But Madam, we have Fried rice and noodles?” he says.

But then the guest is always right and the dishes come hot off the stove. The chicken is an interesting fusion of hot and sweet. Crisp batter fried pieces of chicken is tossed with mushroom, capsicum, baby corn and cashew nut to create this dish, which does a tango on your tastebuds.

Some pieces of beef in the Beef in Black Bean Sauce could have been more tenderised but is nevertheless a hit at the table. Dessert is a disappointment, as the two month-old restaurant hasn't yet started serving all that is listed on its menu. I was rather looking forward to a Toffee Apple. With choices of ice-creams, fruit salad and gulab jamun available, I decide on gulab jamun. A sweet end to the meal.

Tastefully done

Diner's Summit is spacious and the tables are thankfully not cramped together. The interior is tastefully done with abstract pieces of art adorning the walls.

The speciality of the restaurant apart from its Chinese dishes from the various regions of China is its seafood items. The thalis at Diner's Summit seem to be a hit too as a couple of diners are busy tucking heartily into their food.

The restaurant offers buffet lunches on weekdays and buffet dinners on weekends. While the buffet lunch is priced at Rs. 225 plus taxes for each person, a buffet dinner is priced at Rs. 300 for each person. The restaurant is located at Biverah Hotel, Kumarapuram Junction.
