Vishaal De Mall was significantly busier last Sunday. Footfall in the mall rose with happy little pairs of feet walking in and engaging themselves in building a Ninjago with Lego bricks. All children who joined in the exercise stacking the colourful bricks walked away happy with a certificate and free lego pouch. The event was organised to mark the launch of the first exclusive Funskool store in Madurai. By the end of the day, six-feet Ninjago made with 66,000 Lego bricks was standing tall.

Spread over 1556 sq ft, it is Funskool’s ninth store in the country. Apart from stocking its own brands like Giggles, the infants and pre-school range, Handycrafts - arts and crafts that kids love to do, Play & Learn - the new experience of floor puzzles, indoor games -- Play-Doh and G games, and exciting picture puzzles, the colourful store also features popular international toys from Hasbro, LEGO, Leap Frog, Tomy, Ravensburger, Siku, Jumbo, New Bright, Hornby and licensed products from Disney, Warner Brothers, Nickelodeon and many more. A wide collection of action figures, puzzles and board games for children and adults are also available at the store.

Mr. John Baby, Chief Executive Officer of Funskool India Limited says care has been taken in displaying the products and giving the customers a new and remarkable Funskool experience of shopping for best toys under one roof. “Children will be spoilt for choice here with the surplus of options including multi-activity toys, assembly and construction toys, pull along toys, creative and educational toys, games, puzzles, board games, party games, memory games, dolls, vehicles, squeaky toys, rattles, teethers for infants, play sets and crawling aids for slightly older babies,” he says.

It is the vision of Funskool to incorporate methods of learning in their toys. “The company’s mission,” says senior vice president sales-marketing, R.Jeswant, “is to influence the parents to understand the importance of toys and spend on those that enable every child to grow positively.” “Quality toys like ours contribute to the mental development of children,” he adds.

The first Funskool retail outlet was opened in Coimbatore. The strategy now is to open more stores in Tier-2 cities lacking in safe and good quality toy specialists. The company is planning to launch retail outlets in Vijayawada and Bangalore by this month end.
