Thirst quenched

Shekhar Kapur and Yash Raj Films have joined hands for the former’s long-pending project Paani . Shekhar’s ambitious international project, which is slated to have actors from Bollywood and Hollywood as well, is set in the future where water wars are fought and thirst is a weapon of control. In such a scenario a young couple fall in love and break all rules. While Hrithik Roshan was reportedly shortlisted as the main lead, there have been no confirmations yet, even after Yash Raj has come into the picture. A leading Hollywood actress is expected to be cast as the female lead.

Way to go

Ankur Bhatia is new in B-town and he is making his commercial debut as a villain in the remake of Zanjeer starring Ram Charan Teja and Priyanka Chopra. He has also written a short film titled Coming Home which he has reportedly sold to Anil Kapoor for his son’s directorial debut. He also has another film up his sleeve which is directed by Shiva Bajpai and shot in New York.

The uglier side

Anurag Kashyap is working on a new film titled Ugly that deals with the ugly part of an urban set up. For the launch of the film he had put up the set of a footpath and had invited kite sellers, paani puri wallahs and other street side vendors. Anurag describes the film as “an emotional one in the garb of a thriller”.
