Biding time

Now that initial reports are out on how Vidya Balan's “Kahaani” is a superlative hit and is winning critical acclaim as well, this little story can be told. Apparently, even while “Kahaani” was ready much before Vidya consented to do “The Dirty Picture”, director Sujoy Ghosh kept waiting for a big hit by Vidya. A close aide tells us the director found this chance in “The Dirty Picture”, which made waves since the day the first scene was shot. Sujoy reportedly wanted to cash in on the success of the film as he knew his own was by no imagination a big one. Good thinking!

Lucky again?

Abhay Deol is all set for his next film “Shanghai” with one of his favourite directors Dibakar Bannerjee, who gave him “Oye Lucky Lucky Oye!” The man, known for picking up unconventional roles, is playing a South Indian in the film and sporting a moustache. Abhay's character in “Shanghai” is reportedly one of a patriot who expects India to overtake Shanghai in every field.

Getting real

John Abraham makes his debut as producer, but it is VJ Ayushmaan Khurana who gets lucky. The VJ who has hosted reality competitive shows on television is getting his big Bollywood break in the debut production of John's JA Entertainment. The film “Vicky Donor” is about a sperm donor. While John insists it will make people aware of the seriousness of sperm donation, the first promo has people in splits.
