Mahatma comes calling!
The film “Mudhalvar Mahatma,” the Hindi version of which is called “Welcome back Gandhi,” is to finally hit the screens on March 30. The film shot into the limelight after Anna Hazare, during his Chennai visit, watched it at a special show organised by the film's producer and director, A. Balakrishnan.
Now, with the film set to hit the screens, the director has chosen to create awareness about it by organising road shows across the country. Says a source in the unit: “Special teams have been formed to conduct these road shows in all the major metros, including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The road shows are already on in Chennai. Dressed up as Mahatma Gandhi, Kanakaraj, the hero of the film, meets the masses during these shows.”
Arya in Tamil Delhi Belly?
Well, here's the latest on the Tamil remake of the Hindi film Delhi Belly . According to sources in the industry, Arya has been roped in for the project and it is to be directed by Kannan. They also inform that Nayanthara has been approached for a role in the film and that the actor is seriously considering it.
However, Dhananjayan of UTV says, “We are in talks and nothing has been finalised yet.” If Nayanthara too chooses to be part of the project, expectations from it are bound to rise as Nayan's last film with Arya — “Boss Engira Baskaran” — was a blockbuster.
Shriya's gesture
All's well that ends well. Actor Shriya Saran and producer Malaysia Pandian, who were at loggerheads over the release of the Tamil film “Raja Pokkiri Raja,” which is the dubbed version of the Malayalam film “Pokkiri Raja,” have sorted out their differences, with the former withdrawing her complaint to the Nadigar Sangam. Shriya, in her complaint to the Sangam, had urged it to stop the release of “Raja Pokkiri Raja.”
Says Shriya: “I had entered into an agreement with the producer of the original Malayalam film that he would not dub it into any other language without my approval. But he sold the rights to dub the film into Tamil to Malaysia Pandian. I therefore filed a complaint with the Nadigar Sangam, urging it to stop the release of the film's Tamil version. However, when Malaysia Pandian explained that he would be suffering huge losses if the film did not release, I realised it would be unfair to make someone else lose money for no fault of theirs. I therefore chose to withdraw my complaint.”
Sources close to Malaysia Pandian say the producer is extremely delighted with the actor's gesture.
