Shannon K wants to follow in the steps of her father Kumar Sanu

Kumar Sanu, one of the most prolific playback singers that the Indian film industry has seen is currently residing in London with his family. Like the father, both his daughters Shannon K (12) and Ana K (9), have inherited his flair. Sanu is all set to launch his elder daughter’s debut song, “Roll Back the Years”.

As interesting as the launch is, the story behind it is equally touching. Ana K was upset because one of her friends at school was suffering due to her parents’ divorce. In Shannon’s words, “My sister came home from school and broke into tears. She wrote something on a piece of paper. I looked at the paper and it was heart touching. I thought I’ll sing it and luckily my father heard it. He found my singing good and decided to launch it.”

Shannon asserts that singing will be her dream job as she does not excel in studies. She was awestruck when she got to know that her father hae decided to give a platform to her voice. “I never thought about such a big launch. I wanted to put it in storage or to share it just with a few of my friends.”

The budding singer is getting all the support from her family and attributes her reason for joy to her younger sister. “My father is very supportive. He taught me whenever I made a mistake. Without my sister I am nothing. If she wasn’t there nothing would have happened. I hope that she becomes whatever she desires to be.”

At the moment she is enjoying all the attention that she is receiving.

“I was shy, quiet and ordinary but now people have started to know me. It’s like I came out with a bang. My teachers are surprised as they did not know about my talent.”

Along with this emotional theme, Shannon is singing a song “Just Say No!”, which is about drug awareness. Touching social issues with their gift, both the sisters are working to shine.

Meanwhile, Sanu has come up with a Spanish album “Amor”.

Known for his romantic numbers, Sanu has sung seven love songs starting with the title song “Tu Aras Mi”.

“I have sung in 18 languages and my Spanish ýfans wanted to record some songs in Spanish. “Tu Aras Mi” is a disco kind of song but I have maintained the melody so that the song doesn’t become painful to ears. Aras means love or interest, mi means my and tu means yours. It just like my other romantic songs.”

Asked about Bollywood projects apart from his albums, the singer says, “Listeners are bored now of vulgar and cheap lyrics. I can’t reveal the projects now but I can share a few, like I am doing playback for Neil Nitin Mukesh in Dussera and one for Yash Raj’s Dum Laga ke Haisa. I am doing playback for Aayushman Khurana. Through the movie I am making my acting debut. Playing myself, I have already shot in Rishikesh with Aayushman.”
